For over 30 years, this FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) has covered broad topics relating to DNA, RNA, protein methylation, and the role these epigenetic and post-translational modifications have in development, disease, and cancer. The conference brings together scientists studying diverse aspects of the biochemistry, function, and disease relevance of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe)-dependent methylation to discuss recent research developments and initiate collaborations. This year鈥檚 program will provide ample opportunities for students, fellows, and early-career investigators to interact with leaders in the fields of protein, RNA, and DNA methylation.

The main themes of this FASEB conference are: 1) Protein, DNA, and RNA methylation: 2) Methylation and chromatin regulation in the context of development and disease; 3) Small molecule inhibitors of methyltransferases and demethylases and their therapeutic applications.

Since 2007, this FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) has been the only scienti铿乧 meeting of its kind dedicated to exploring protein acetylation and deacetylation, from basic to translational research. The meeting has now evolved to converge the interests of researchers in all areas of dynamic protein acylation.

The conference will bring together research scientists and postdoctoral and graduate student trainees who are currently working on acetylation and related areas. This conference is also aimed at newcomers to this field who are interested in incorporating acetylation research into their existing programs. This meeting will be beneficial to clinical investigators and scientists in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on diseases affected by protein acetylation and developing treatments targeting acetylation enzymes.

Since 1983, this FASEB Science Research Conference on protein kinases and phosphorylation has promoted scientific excellence and serves as a premier platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge, unpublished research findings. Due to its wide scope, diverse speakers, and vibrant and timely scientific discussions, it is one of our most highly attended meetings.

The program will foster collaboration of ideas and stimulate new avenues of research in structural biology, biochemistry, systems biology, chemical biology, and protein engineering. Organizers have developed a lineup of speakers and presentations to deepen our understanding of molecular mechanisms in critical biological processes, leading to the identification of targets for disease diagnosis, prevention, treatments, and cures. By including both methods-focused and biology-focused sessions, we offer trainees a comprehensive understanding of the field and a glimpse into future developments.

Cancer research is still pushing scientific boundaries and new developments and insights are entering the clinic at increasing pace. Most of the clinical successes come from our understanding of basic processes that govern cancer initiation and progression, including signal transduction. Consequently, we see that especially inhibitors to signaling molecules, in particular kinases, are entering the clinic very rapidly. Therefore, the molecular mechanisms by which signals are received by cells, transduced towards the proper targets and integrated into a biological response are amongst the most-studied areas in modern biology. In this Joint 51茶楼/EMBO Lecture Course on Spetses, we are bringing together a number of true experts in the field from basic and translational oncology. This course will cover signaling by various pathways (PI3K, WNT, RAS/RAF) but also DNA damage and protein degradation signaling. We will also cover the consequences of pathway deregulation for cellular processes like metabolism and damage repair. Finally, the application or translation of this knowledge into the clinic will be discussed by the speakers.

For over 20 years, this world-renowned conference has brought together researchers studying all aspects of RNA degradation in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems. This year鈥檚 meeting is designed to foster interactions between scientists, focusing particularly on new and early-career researchers.

The conference will feature cutting-edge research related to RNA decay, including basic mechanisms of RNA degradation, the role of RNA binding proteins and noncoding RNAs in RNA turnover, and the impact of RNA decay pathways on cell function and physiology.
